Exposing the trick behind the Filipino resiliency

There's nothing more cliché than the word "resiliency." That Filipino trait, which has drawn admiration and attention in the domestic and international communities, isn't as laudable as how others perceive it. We become so accustomed to our fellow countrymen's adversities and sufferings without noticing that we are already overusing and exploiting the term to make a situation appear to be better than its real condition.

A Total Headbanger

A massive shoutout to Smartsourcing's very own associate, Daphnie Manigos, and her band Adamanta! These metalheads put on an epic performance at the Wacken Battle Philippines, leaving the crowd begging for more. Despite the scorching heat and a momentary fainting spell, Daphnie, the vocalist of the band, slayed on stage and brought the house down with her sword-wielding, face-melting vocals.

The Disillusionment of an Illusion: When Fantasy Clashes with Reality (Fan Girl Film Review)

When someone warns you never to meet your heroes, don’t ask why.

After dominating, the 46th Metro Film Festival (MMFF) by winning 8 out of 9 awards it was nominated in, Antoinette Jadaone's Fan Girl doesn’t only take us to the bold and dark truths of fandoms but will also loosen your grips and will leave your belts unbuckled because it will never prepare you for the emotional rollercoaster scenes that depict the blurring boundaries of one's fantasy and the bitter reality. From a director known for her works of top romance films such as Alone/Together (2019), Never Not to Love You (2018), Love You to the Stars and Back (2017), and That Thing Called Tadhana (2014), Fan Girl is a standout and liberation of Jadaone's usual style of filmography with romantic-comedy themed plots and happy endings for it is produced in a raw-type form of delivery that captures the curves and breaths of the cruel and deceptive reality of being a celebrity's "number one fan."
